54: planning a clothing & equipment list

teachers’ notes

1) Like other stuff in this workbook, this worksheet might be more useful as a teacher reference. You might go through the list, for example, & decide what you want the students to bring (& not bring).

2) Obvieusement, what students need to take will vary from trip to trip; it will vary depending on what the school supplies (e.g. some schools supply good quality water bottles, while others supply thermarests). Hence, the generic nature of the list.

3) When I give out lists, I usually divide everything into several different categories: a) essential, b) recommended, c) optional & d) prohibited.

4) I tell students:

further activities (or an alternative way of figuring out what needs to be taken)

Simply brainstorm a clothing & equipment list with the class, making sure that everything essential is covered & that students understand what they risk by not taking essential items. (The important thing is that the teacher has the final say.)
