68: fully cool crossword

Code Red Alert!!

There were a number of errors on the “fully cool crossword” page in the earlier print runs of the second edition of Footprints that rendered some of the crossword insoluble.

The error was made by work experience students from Budget High School. The corrected version that appears in later print runs is clearly marked “proof-read by work experience students from Thrifty High School.”

If you have an older version, you can download a corrected PDF version by clicking here.

Note: Re D1, BBG stands for Black, Blue, Green.

Other activities

  1. Students could make their own “snowflake crossword,” for example, by drawing up a symmetrical pattern on grid paper.
  2. If students have access to computers, using Word tables, they can:
    1. make a wordsearch;
    2. copy the wordsearch and color the answers differently (thereby creating an answer sheet);
    3. copy the wordsearch answer sheet and black out the random letters (creating a crossword answer sheet)
    4. copy this crossword answer sheet, write clues, delete the remaining letters, add some numbers (thereby creating a crossword).

What could be simpler???
