This puzzle page has been designed to be hard on the theory that some students (& teachers!) love hard puzzles.
The tree referred to in Puzzle 1 #15 was reputedly was cut down so it could be measured. The measurement was apparently based on the length of the trunk, but the uppermost flowers reached up nearly another 20 metres. Mature mountain ash trees often lose their upper sections to lightning strikes.
