Desert2surf initiative was conceived in 2007. Its aim is to provide indigenous children in remote communities with the opportunity to travel away from their home to engage in a range of targeted cultural and outdoor experiences normally unavailable to them.

Road from Minyerri
Images of the Alawa Country, Northern Territory

Take in the essence of the Minyerri Community in a special collection of encapsulating works from renowned indigenous artists including Barney Ellaga and Janet Long Nakamarra.

As well as showcasing this unique selection of canvases, Road from Minyerri also features images of the people and places of the Alawa Country by photographer Deb Oliver.

This stunning exhibition is set in the Yarra Valley’s beautiful Lovegrove Winery and runs from Sunday 6 April to Sunday 1 June 2008.

This limited collection of indigenous art has travelled down Australia’s red centre to treat art connoisseurs and appreciators alike.  Entry to the exhibition is free and all sale proceeds will go to support the desert2surf initiative.

As part of the desert2surf initiative, twelve year old girls Rebecca Dennis and Marie Wunta from the Minyerri Community will be special guests at the opening of Road from Minyerri.
